Kommentare/ Inhalte: This course will be taught by two experienced members of the Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies advisory division. One is the Project Leader of the Small Arms and Light Weapons Control project, who has more than 15 years experience in arms control research and capacity building, and the BICC Senior Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) Advisor currently seconded to the African Union Political Affairs, Peace and Security Department, who has more than 8 years experience of arms control, in particular in advising and running arms control activities across Africa. The course will be held in English.
Lernziel: This seminar aims to equip students with a broad understanding of regional and international instruments on small arms and light weapons (SALW) as well as conventional ammunition control with a regional focus on African instruments.
Vorgehen: Within the block seminar, participants will elaborate and discuss the specifics of international and regional ( primarily african ) arms control instruments. Within the different sessions the lecturers will focus into key aspects of the respective instrument based on its content.
