Kommentare/ Inhalte:
This seminar is a series of lessons to strengthen students' sociological imagination. It introduces what sociology is, what is its place among sciences and what are the requirements of working with it. In this seminar, various topics from different levels of social analysis (micro, medium and macro) are taught and analyzed.
List of topics: 1. What is sociology? Getting to know the principles, foundations, and its place among sciences. 2. Looking at society with a sociological perspective. 3. Micro sociology: If life is a game, what are its rules? 4. Caught in a spider's web: the power of networks. 5. Social stratification: We are all equal, but some of us are more equal than others. 6. Gender and ethnicity: I know my race, but where is the finish line? 7. Crime and deviance: I fought the law and won! 8. Rules of the game: social movements and political changes. 9. Civil society and democracy. 10. Globalization: threats and opportunities. 11. Migration: fears and hopes. 12. Population, industry, and climate change. 13. Social issues industry: a new approach in looking at social issues. 14. Research in the social world: problems, pitfalls, dilemma. 15. The influence of sociology. 16. Sociology and your life.
Lernziel:
The main topic of this course is based on the famous phrase "sociological imagination". And its purpose is to strengthen the sociological imagination of students. In the process of this course, students get to know how sociology works and learn that the study of sociology cannot be just the usual process of acquiring knowledge. They learn that sociological work requires a much broader view of social phenomena and events, and that what we consider natural, inevitable, good, or true may not be so.
Vorgehen:
- This seminar is organized online and held in Dari language. which is very suitable for Dari/Persian speaking students of Hamburg University.
- Afghan female students who are deprived of education can also participate in the class.
- Regular attendance at the seminar is required to achieve the goal of the seminar.
