Dear first-year students at the Asia-Africa Institute,
we are looking forward to welcoming you soon as students at our institute. Take part in the orientation sessions! You will get to know your fellow students and learn a lot about the organisation and the study programme.
In the week from Mon, 9th October 2023, 9 am to Thu, 12th October 2023, 4 pm (OE week), each subject offers the following from approx. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
(slight time variations are possible depending on subject and day). Your OE tutors will contact you and provide you with all the important information about the OU procedure.

In the OE ...
... you will get to know your lecturers, your department or seminar and your fellow students.
... you will be informed about your examination regulations and the types and contents of your courses.
... create your timetable together with your OE tutors.
... you will receive an introduction to STiNE and register for your courses (you do not have to register beforehand!).
... get an overview of the most important contact points at the university and on campus.

REGISTRATION PERIOD FOR COURSES
Every winter semester there is a special registration period for first-semester students, new students, new admissions (possibly to a higher semester, etc.). So:
There are special registration periods for first-year students: You do not have to register for courses before this special registration period!
During the so-called orientation week (OE week), we plan a supervised registration in STiNE. You will learn more from your main subject tutors during the OE week. A minor subject consultation is then planned as part of OE week. More info on dates etc. at:

Before the orientation unit, read the information in STiNE to find out about the organisational process of your studies. Any questions you may have will be answered during the orientation session.
