Comments/contents: Mediators assist as a neutral third party a constructive resolution of conflicts and the forward-negotiation of interests. They offer an optimal setting of communication to their mediants to promote consensual win-win solutions. Mediation is an indispensable part of the alternative dispute resolution. Moreover, mediation is an increasingly important preventive procedure between parties in contractual negotiations. Next to methods and tools mediation needs specific attitude and mindset. During course, the participants learn the theoretical background of mediation and get to know the particular attitude of the mediator. They gain insight into the procedural method of the mediator. Various exercises and simulations open the opportunity to play a mediator’s part or participate as a party of the conflict and build practical mediation skills. Reflections and feedback complement the course.
