During the proceedings of court cases, witnesses are most common and very often they also give the crucial evidence. This applies not only to criminal proceedings but also to civil procedures. That importance will be underestimated quite often.
This course includes the fundamentals of effective examination and questioning, introduces different approaches and their consequences, shows different questioning techniques and strategies, and it demonstrates possible sources of error.
The importance of body language and the dealing with different types of witnesses, completes examination procedures and questioning processes.
The learned knowledge will be applied and trained by practical examples and exercises. Often, witnesses, but also other parties such as lawyers, prosecutors, judges or experts show suspicious and/or inappropriate behavior. Here the question arises: are they "troublemakers" or is the inappropriate behavior an attempt to cover up feelings like fear or shame? Is it only unpleasant personality matter, or is it even part of mental disorder?
It is crucial to identify the causes and also the options of action. Techniques of inter-action, how to respond to any inappropriate behavior, are taught in this seminar.
In the course you get tools to identify mental illness. You get instructions on how to deal with
mentally ill people, as well.
The different personality types are presented. The course also offers strategies of reasonable, respective and successful dealing with different personality structures.
Beside theory, also practical exercises to deepen skills, should be applied.
In the context of self-reflection, the following issues are discussed:
• How do I get out of the "cycle of anger"?
• How do I deal with antipathy/sympathy?
• How do I take care of myself? And how do I establish emotional and professional distance?
