This block seminar introduces the economic analysis of (psycho-)linguistic issues. It deals, for example, with the relationship between language skills and economic outcomes in the labor market, their importance for international trade and economic growth, economic aspects of language policy, language use and language diffusion, and the influence of grammatical structures on economic behavior.
Learning objectives:
The goal of the course is to develop an overview of the field of "Language Economics" as well as to become familiar with important theoretical and empirical concepts in the field.
Didactic concept:
The first three blocks are designed to familiarize students with the content of the subject area. The two-day session in June is reserved for presentations and discussions by the students. Please make sure that you are able to attend all dates.
