Comments/contents:
The research seminar extends over two semesters. In the first semester, we will focus intensively on out-of-school learning primarily in mathematics, but the research workshop is open to students of other subjects. In the second semester, we will explore qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research methods.
For us, extracurricular learning in the subject of mathematics in the context of the research seminar should mean, on the one hand, discovering and dealing with mathematical structures and activities outside the classroom in mathematical trails and, on the other hand, recognizing mathematical structures and connections in mechanisms of selected board games.
In cooperation with the Landesinstitut, a link to the topic of supporting gifted students will also be established.
Additional examination information:
As part of the research seminar, students teachers must develop their own research project in the context of extracurricular learning over the two semesters.
In the summer semester (FW I), a learning environment for gifted students is to be developed based on mathematically oriented games or mathematical trails. A short report is to be written about the investigated mathematical structures in the game or the developed tasks and their learning potential.
The learning environment is to be carried out with students on a separate date in the summer or winter semester; a date will be clarified later.
At the end of the winter semester (FW II), an extended research report on the planning, implementation and evaluation of the students' activities is to be prepared.
More details about the requirements will be announced in the course.
