Comments/contents:
The seminar to practicum I is linked to the TEDS-IME research and development project (https://www.teds.uni-hamburg.de/teds-ime.html) and focuses on teaching teacher competencies in inclusive algebra instruction.

Teaching algebra consistently in an understanding-oriented way challenges us teachers. How can we succeed in implementing this in inclusive learning settings? What specific demands do we as teachers have to face here? With regard to the relevant subject-specific prior knowledge and selected general learning requirements, the seminar will outline approaches for diagnosing learners and providing focused support. An essential basis is provided by scientifically tested teaching materials, which are made available to all student teacherss. The challenging activity of teaching in heterogeneous learning groups at secondary level I is to be inspired and reflected upon with a focus on best practice examples. A special methodological focus is placed on the individual and collective analysis of instructional videos.

Learning objectives:
1) Get to know, analyze and reflect on two teaching units on terms and equations, which take into account the didactic principles of comprehension orientation, long-term orientation, interconnectedness of representations, diagnosis-guidedness and communication support in regular classes, in order to then apply them (adapted) in their own regular classes.

2) To be able to diagnose selected subject-specific and general learning prerequisites of learners in mathematics lessons and to offer appropriate support or encouragement.

Additional examination information:
In the seminar, regular attendance (absence allowed twice) and active participation are required.

At the end of the block phase (end of September 2023), an oral examination (MAP) must be taken for the final module examination. The examination topic can be chosen by the student teachers themselves over the period of practicum I in consultation with the lecturers.

As part of the TEDS-IME research and development project, an anonymous (!) investigation of the development of teacher competencies for inclusive algebra instruction will take place as part of the coursework.
