In this class, we will attempt to communicate in turns in English, French and German. (The final projects from the last two semester can be seen on our website.) We will discuss the development of theater in the world (but mainly in the USA, France and Germany), as well as the cultural and sociological implications it has. The focus is on improving your language skills through role-playing exercises, reading scenes and plays, coming up with projects, and communicating within the classroom in this trilingual setting.

Enrollment requirements:

Proof of appropriate language level (minimum B2 for B2 courses, C1 for C1 courses), not older than three years.

This can be achieved by:

Taking our online placement test (link)

Submitting a language certificate from a course at the appropriate level (see website for accepted certificates).

Sending us a copy of the Transcript of Records from STiNE showing completion of a course at the appropriate level.

After sending us the required documents you can then go ahead and register for the respective course(s).

Registrations without proof of the appropriate placement test or certificate will be cancelled.

N.B. If you have already had your level assessed by us in the last three years or have already presented us with a certificate then you do not need to prove your level again.

Learning objectives:
This class allows students to work in a multilingual context, while actively practicing their English, French and German. Each of the above-listed languages will benefit in the areas of verbal communication, listening comprehension, and vocabulary building.

Klaus Gilbert Filed. Stages of Drama; Peter Brook. Threads of Time; Gary Michael Kluger. Professional Scenes and Monologues for Student Actors; Oscar Brockett and Robert Findlay. Century of Innovation
