This course is aimed at helping students develop their ability to read, understand, and discuss journalistic texts related to natural sciences, computer science, and math. Through engagement with student-driven topics, students should expand their ability to communicate about current issues in these areas, from global climate change to artificial intelligence.

Enrollment requirements:

Proof of appropriate language level (minimum B2 for B2 courses, C1 for C1 courses), not older than three years.

This can be achieved by:

Taking our online placement test (link)

Submitting a language certificate from a course at the appropriate level (see website for accepted certificates).

Sending us a copy of the Transcript of Records from STiNE showing completion of a course at the appropriate level.

After sending us the required documents you can then go ahead and register for the respective course(s).

Registrations without proof of the appropriate placement test or certificate will be cancelled.

N.B. If you have already had your level assessed by us in the last three years or have already presented us with a certificate then you do not need to prove your level again.

Learning objectives:
Students should improve their ability in English to: * read and understand the main ideas from mainstream science journalism on a variety of topics, * give spoken answers to questions about these readings, and * take part in conversation about issues related to these scientific topics.
