Comments/contents:
Based on Moscow's military aggression against Ukraine, the seminar deals with current trends and developments in Russian foreign and security policy. It sheds light on the background of these developments and asks to what extent the Ukraine war is changing the realization of Russia's great power ambitions. It examines the material and ideational foundations of Russian power projection in regional and global perspective, the foreign policy decision-making processes and internal developments shaping Moscow's external policy as well as the various instruments of soft and hard power that Russia has used in recent years. In concrete case studies, Russia's bilateral policy vis-à-vis other actors of world politics (USA, NATO, EU, China) is examined, as well as vis-à-vis individual regions (neighborhood countries, Middle East, Africa and Latin America), and in the context of regional and international institutions (e.g. Eurasian Economic Union, United Nations, OSCE).
