Audio signal processing is an important part of many technical devices, like smartphones, hearing aids, and speech controlled assistants which are ubiquitous in the everyday life of many people.
In this seminar, we address recent hot topics in different fields of audio signal processing, ranging e.g. from speech recognition and audio-visual speech enhancement to the ever increasing interest in using machine learning techniques for audio signal processing. Students present selected topics in order to achieve an overview on relevant techniques in the area of audio signal processing.
Learning objectives:
- Students are capable to review and critically acclaim research papers
- Students master the basics of presentation techniques and knowledge transfer
- Student acquire an overview of current challenges and research questions in the are of audio signal processing
Didactic concept:
After a general introduction to the goals and structure of the seminar, we will distribute topics to participants. Every participant will be presenting one of the topics on audio signal processing. We expect active participation in the subsequent discussions. At the end of the seminar period, we expect a short summary paper.
For a successful seminar, using webcams is necessary.
