Comments/contents:
After elaborating the basic features of a community- and education-oriented social pedagogy or pedagogy of the social, the seminar will explore the question of the relationship between sustainability and social pedagogy.
For this purpose, reference is made to the 17 universal Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) developed by the United Nations and the contradiction between capitalism and sustainability (cf. Neckel et al 2022) is negotiated.

In particular - with reference to SDG 16 (Promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies) - the question of peace causation research, "which framework conditions and prerequisites are necessary for the 'architecture' of a lasting and stable earthly peace characterised by sustainability" (Senghaas 2015: 14), is taken into consideration and it is discussed which conducive role social pedagogical theories and concepts such as democracy education can and should play in this context.

As starting points for this, the "concrete utopia" of communal pedagogy (Richter 2019) as well as the theories and concepts around commons and social cooperatives as a basis for the design of social infrastructure (Kunstreich 2018) will be discussed in the seminar.
