Comments/contents:
Rooted in its specific background, the development of medieval, premodern and modern Ethiopian and Eritrean civilizations offer a wide range of peculiar phenomena and a great typological variety of records and sources: from translations of great historical and philological significance, to hagiographical literary texts originated in monastic environments, from indigenous historical and documentary production to ethno-historical and folkloric traditions.

Learning objectives:
The seminar intends to present a selection of texts exemplifying peculiar aspects of the Ethiopian and Eritrean written culture.
