Comments/contents:
The seminar intends to present the essential historical frame within which medieval and premodern Ethiopia and Eritrea have developed from their ancient premises till modern times, both in their internal development and in relationship and early contacts with the Occidental world, through a number of marking turning points: rise and fall of the Aksumite civilization, the early medieval age, the Zagwe period, the establishment and the apogee of the Solomonic dynasty in the 14th-15th cent., major confrontation between Christian and Islamic states, Gondarine period and end of premodern Ethiopia and Eritrea from the 17th to the 20th cent.

Learning objectives:
The seminar intends to provide the essential working tools for orientation on the basic historical questions related to the linguistic, literary, and cultural history of Ethiopia and Eritrea.

-If you receive certificates, these do not replace the entry of the grades/assessments by the lecturers STiNE (they must still enter the grades/assessments in STiNE).
-The examination department does not enter any grades in STiNE (exception: external achievements from other universities, which are recognized).
-Only if grades/assessments are entered in STiNE, the examination department can create Transcript of Records (grade sheet) and/or certificates for you.
