Sequencing DNA is easy, but what do you do afterwards ? We consider protein, nucleotide and RNA sequences usually with the aim of getting to biological function and diseases
- Genome assembly
- Sequence alignments
- phylogeny
- Genome-wide association studies
Learning objectives:
One should know what analyses are common or possible for nucleotide and protein sequences and what are the methods behind the programs and web pages one uses.
Didactic concept:
Lectures in a delightful, cosy lecture theatre, but the practicals will probably be online. You will need a computer and will have to install a few programs.
Literature:
Lecture slides and handouts. Everything will be available on a moodle page.
Additional examination information:
Written or electronic exam, 90 Minutes. From the practicals, one should have 75% of the final points..
