Comments/contents:
The lecture develops a theoretical framework that is useful to think about a wide variety of topics in international macroeconomics (along the lines of the lecture slides and the textbook of S. Schmitt-Grohé, M. Uribe und M. Woodford, Columbia University.
The tutorial helps to understand the material of the lecture in different ways. First, some additional derivations of theoretical and empirical results are provided. Second, applications of the theory are illustrated.
Learning objectives:
The students obtain an overview of the most important topics and methods in international macroeconomics. They learn to work with a small model which helps them to think in a structured way about those topics. They also obtain some insights in current research results in the field of international macroeconomics.
Didactic concept:
Slides for each topic will be provided and presented in the theoretical part of the lecture. In the practical part we will solve excercise sheets.
Last years' lectures (theoretical part only) are available on Lecture2Go and can help the students to repeat or deepen the topics at their own pace.
All contents will be made available on OpenOlat.
Acquaintance with basic macroeconomics is required.
