Comments/contents:
Epistemology is one of the core areas of philosophy. Its subjects are the nature, structure, development and limits of human knowledge. This course will address basic questions of epistemology in general, but also more specific questions from epistemology and the philosophy of science that arise in economics and social sciences.
This English-language course is primarily aimed at students of the Master’s programme Politics, Economics, and Philosophy. Limited spaces will be available for students of the BA/MA programme in Philosophy.
As of July 2021, the plan is for the course to be held in person. The dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic might necessitate a change to a fully digital synchronous format, however. If such a change takes place, it will be announced on STiNE.
Literature:
M. Risjord, Philosophy of Social Science (Routledge, 2014), is a good introduction to many of the topics that will be covered in the course. The book is available as an e-book via the university library.
