Linguistic diversity is an essential feature of the migration society, especially in metropolitan areas and large cities. In school and out-of-school practice, however, dealing with linguistic diversity is a challenge, and bilingualism or multilingualism are often perceived as a risk factor for an individual's successful educational biography. In order to give children and young people the best possible support in their respective life situations and their educational processes, programs have been developed in this complex situation that aim at building local education networks for children and young people. Language education is often a common theme that determines the activities in such networks. Based on theoretical elaboration, this seminar will focus on the following questions: What do social space orientation and language education mean in the context of linguistic diversity? How are they intertwined? What are the potentials of educational networks? But also: What are the obstacles when setting them up? In addition, the seminar participants should experience the implementation of activities in practical network through their own (virtual) explorations.
