Comments/contents: The focus of this language course is on acquiring a basic understanding of the grammatical peculiarities of Colloquial Tibetan, as well as the acquisition of a basic vocabulary. Knowledge of Classical Tibetan is required. As a textbook we will use the Manual of Standard Tibetan by Nicholas Tournadre and Sangda Dorje (Ithaca/Boulder: Snow Lion Publications, 2003). We will discuss other materials in class. In addition to regular and active participation, students are expected to thoroughly prepare and follow up on the individual sessions. At the end of the semester there will be an exam. This course takes place online via zoom. Please contact the lecturer for the access data. At the beginning of the semester it will be discussed whether and under what conditions face-to-face teaching will be possible.
