The course covers central topics of the economics of health and health care, for example,- market failures in the health care - the demand for health insurance - risk selection by health insurers - physician incentives The aim of the course is to provide the economic analytical tools needed to inform public policy debates about health and health care. We will examine a number of important policy issues, e.g., the regulation of health insurance markets and the design of payment schemes.The course requires good knowledge of microeconomics. In addition, students should be familiar with regression analysis.

The course consists of a lecture and a tutorial. Both asynchronous and synchronous online learning will be employed. We will use OPEN OLAT and ZOOM. Synchronous online learning will take place on selected dates of the official schedule. A timetable will be published at the beginning of the teaching session.
