Short description: The lecture deals with the law of the European Union (EU). It will cover the basic legal principles of European law, the institutions of the EU, its legal acts and the system of judicial protection. In addition, the main features of the European Single Market will be presented. The overall aim of the course is to introduce students to the special features of EU law thinking, and to familiarise them with essential problem constellations. The lecture covers the compulsory subject matter of the First State Examination in Law.

Students are required to bring along texts of the Treaty on European Union (TEU), the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) and the German Basic Law (GG).

The lecture is offered as a face-to-face course within the framework of the applicable legal requirements. In parallel, video recordings of the lecture, the basic structure of which has essentially remained unchanged, from the 2019/20 winter semester will be made available.
