The basic statistics module consists of the courses Statistics 1 (4 SWS) and Statistics 2 (2 SWS). The contents build on each other. The contents (6 SWS) are examined in an exam. The courses run one after the other: first statistics 1 over the first 2/3 of the semester with 6 hours per week (2/3 * 6 = 4), then statistics 2 over the last 1/3 of the semester with 6 hours per week (1/3 * 6 = 2).

Learning objectives:
The students

• can apply basic methods of inductive statistics and transfer them to topics of sociology and economics.
  
• are able to use the methods.
  
• are able to study the specialist literature independently by developing the terminology and to professionally and critically interpret research results with regard to the methods used and their assumptions.

Additional examination information:
Module examination in the form of an exam! This means that there is no "individual test" for statistic 1 (as well as for statistic 2). These two subjects are examined together in ONE exam. (Exception old examination regulations)
