The course will be divided into two parts. The first part of the course introduces the basic ethical concepts and different theoretical traditions in ethics (e.g. Utilitarianism, Kantian ethics, virtue ethics, etc.), and the second part of the course explores major ethical challenges brought by the use and design of IT, including
- Privacy,
- Intellectual Property,
- Cybersecurity,
- Social Networking,
- Professional Ethics
- Global Information Ethics,
- Etc
Learning objectives:
Students
(A) will be acquainted with major theories and concepts in Ethics for critically reflecting on ethical implications of the use and design of IT.
(B) Learn the key Topics in the ethical discussion on IT
(C) apply the knowledge obtained To analysing these ethical Challenges related to IT, and formulate responses to them.

Additional examination information:
Studienleistungen: Regular and successful participation; Participation is generally considered successful if all tasks have been completed and at least 50% have been solved correctly
Prüfungsleistungen: The module examination takes place in form of regular writing assignments (instead of the oral presentation) and a short final paper. The final module grade is assed as follows: writing assignments (weighting 80%), final paper (weighting 20%).
