„The origin, center and orientation of the Christian faith is a living person: Jesus Christ. Therefore, the question of who Jesus Christ is is also the core question of theology. The name Jesus Christ stands for the double dimension of this question: It is at the same time the question about the person Jesus of Nazareth and about the confession of this person as the Christ, i.e. the anointed one of God, in whose life, death and resurrection God himself became historically experienceable and visible for us and of whom faith therefore speaks as the bringer of salvation."
