This course introduces the fundamentals of corporate risk management. After introducing the concepts of risk, risk management and uncertainty, motives and reasons for corporate risk management are studied both theoretically and empirically. A main emphasis of this module is on the question of how to effectively manage risk. To address this issue, students will obtain an overview of different sources of corporate risk and will learn about several quantitative and qualitative tools and techniques for risk management as well as about optimal risk sharing among different parties. Furthermore, the economic value of risk management is analyzed.

Please note that this year the module "Decision Behavior" is not a prerequisite to take this course.
