In this lecture, students are familiarized with terms, standards and methods from the areas of IT governance, IT compliance and IT risk management. The different application domains of IT governance/IT compliance from the IT strategy to the operative implementation of governance and compliance requirements are highlighted.
Students should be given the opportunity to acquire basic knowledge of information systems from the perspective of possible career perspectives. In concrete terms, these are the following views:
- Entrepreneurs: Information systems view through the perspective of a CIO/Decider
- Project Manager/ Process Owner: Information systems view through the perspective of an Executive/ Consultant
The main topics of the lecture will be:
- Relevant terms in the context of IT Governance, IT Compliance and IT Risk Management
- Approaches for the design and implementation of IT governance mechanisms
- Governance and IT management standards (e.g. COBIT)
- Changes in IT governance due to agility and the ability to look beyond corporate boundaries
- Approaches for establishing IT compliance
- IT Compliance audit procedures
Learning objectives:
Understand and apply terms, standards and procedures in the context of IT governance, IT compliance and IT risk management.
Following the lectures, the participants should be able to work on IT governance/compliance topics in a practical context and should be able to provide well-founded decision support.
