Comments/contents:
This module is linked to the module "Sociology of Political and Economic Dynamics I". It focuses on social change in politics, civil society and the economy in the present. The aim is to develop a historical understanding of current crisis-ridden developments in politics, civil society and the economy. The first part of the lecture will focus on a diagnosis of crises, focusing on economic (capitalist compulsion for growth and its consequences, "disembedding" (Polanyi) of society and economy, etc.), political (crisis of democratic "welfare states", political authoritarianism, etc.) and civil society (crisis of institutional social cohesion) crisis phenomena. In the second part, the question will be to what extent current civil society movements (Fridays for Future, Degrowth, etc.) and forms of organization (cooperatives, etc.) break with fundamental principles of capitalist socialization and what contribution they can make to crisis management.

Learning objectives:
This module is intended to deepen knowledge of political-sociological knowledge, practice the application of historical or current sociological theories to exemplary topic areas, and enable to deal with inter- and transdisciplinary explanatory approaches.
