In this seminar, you can deepen your knowledge on history and theory of education and Bildung, with regard to the German context. We read known sources of educational theory. The focus lies between the late 18th and early 20th century. On the one hand, the seminar deepens your knowledge about notions like education, socialisation and Bildung. On the other hand, you will see that most of the scientific sources developed in particular social surroundings and they were written by white male protestants. However, this does not mean women had no say in the development of theory.
