Comments/contents:
In this course we will consider the meaning of knowledge from different research and practice perspectives, for example knowledge as a competitive factor in modern knowledge economies or in the light of organizational learning.

In the lectures, students will learn to understand and apply models, methods and tools for describing and designing knowledge work and knowledge management solutions. Potentials of IT support will be discussed as well as organizational, leadership related and social issues referring to the integration of KM in work contexts.

In the practical part of this course we will analyze and discuss several case studies and reports on knowledge management challenges and approaches in organizational practice, e.g. concerning knowledge generation, explication, documentation, transfer or related to the roll-out and use of knowledge management solutions.

Note: We use the tool zoom in this course. For using zoom, you need to install the zoom client on your device and a microphone and camera are needed.

 

Learning objectives:
Students understand different challenges and changes in knowledge work. They will get to know models, methods and tools for designing knowledge management systems and learn about their potentials and limitations. Students learn to apply this knowledge in a practical way by solving case studies from managerial practice. Moreover, the students will learn how to analyze and develop knowledge work and knowledge management solutions from a holistic, organizational and socio-technical perspective.
