Comments/contents: The aim of this block seminar is to acquire basic knowledge of the conditions of education and schooling with a focus on migration. Within the seminar the students will work on educational, sociological and educational-psychological theories and current research results. These will form a basis for further, more in-depth work in the field of social heterogeneity. Central topics of the seminar include the following: 

  • Educational opportunities of children and adolescents with an immigrant background 
  • Acculturation Theories
  • Social inequalities
  • Cultural and linguistic heterogeneity of learners
  • Multilingualism
