Comments/contents: The present class is a language course focusing on the specific layer of Ancient Hebrew (AH) called Mishnaic Hebrew (MH), i.e. the language of the Mishna, the Tosefta and the Tannaitic Midrashim. After a general introduction to the historical evolution of Hebrew Language (from Biblical Hebrew to Mishnaic Hebrew via Late Biblical Hebrew and Qumran Hebrew) the course will focus on different aspects of MH grammar such as fonology, morphology, verbal system. Please note that this class is a "Blockseminar" and it will take place during Pentecost holidays (1-5 June 2020).
