Comments/contents:
The students will develop a transcription service that automatically converts speech to text. Based on possible concepts, a business model will be developed and a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) implemented. On the basis of "startup methods" such as design thinking and lean startup, the students will gain initial experience with established web services such as Amazon Web Services, IBM Watson and Google Cloud and understand common IT architectures for the first prototypical development of their own software-as-a-service solutions. In addition, influencing factors in the management of digital innovations (data privacy, license and price models, individualization, etc.) will be identified and analyzed. Preknowledge in the area of web development is helpful, but not a prerequisite for successful participation. The fundamentals and an insight into the current state of research will be provided in the introductory courses. This project is a cooperation between the work group ITG and the innovation lab base.camp and is offered for the first time in this form.

Didactic concept:

  • We provide the necessary basics for qualitative empirical research, agile start-up methods, IT architectures and the management of digital innovations.
  • Apply design thinking as requirements analysis and creation of a wireframe/mockup
  • Implementation of an MVP based on the identified requirements and the mockup
  • Presentation and documentation of the results including possible extensions
