Comments/contents: Topic of the seminar is the reception of empirical criminological studies.
Learning objectives: Ability to read and critically appraise the methods of current criminological research using quantitative methods of analysis.
Didactic concept: Based on a prototypical selection of predominantly English publications (that will be studied collectively) basic methods of research and data analysis as typically used in current criminological research will be discussed. The focus will be statistical / methodological concepts, their logic of application, and resulting possibilities of interpretation.
