Comments/contents: Lecture for bachelor students in economics according to the new study guidelines (6th term). This lecture is closely linked to the lecture in "Realwirtschaftliche Aspekte der Europäischen Integration" as offered in the winter term schedule (expect this lecture to be held in English first in winter 2018/2019). Attending said lecture is no participation requirement.

Learning objectives: This lecture aims at enabling the students to apply and deepen their knowledge in monetary economics based on the analysis of current eonomic policy issues in Europe.

The exercise allows for students to deepen their economic knowledge obtained during the lecture and further discuss current economic policy issues.
Didactic concept: The lecture consists of 12 lecture units with 2 contact hours. No class on May 1 and May 22 because of national holidays. Furthermore, a practise day will be held on June 29. Additionally, there will be biweekly exercise classes.

Any lecture and exercise material will be provided in advance on STiNE. Generally, the exercise solutions provided during the exercise itself will not be accessible through STiNE.

In the second half of the semester Dr. Joern Eckhoff from the Bundesbank Hamburg will take over the lecture.
Literature: Required reading: Selected chapters (13 to 19) from:
Baldwin, Richard; Wyplosz, Charles (2015): The Economics of European Integration. 5. edition, Berkshire (McGraw-Hill Education)
Additional examination information: As a requirement for the participation in the final exam a mid-term exam will be held. It will most likely consist of a short test of about 20 minutes.

Passing this test, that is obtaining at least 50 percent of the total points, will enable the option to take the final exam.

The final grade will not be influenced by the mid-term exam (but only by the final exam). Six credit points can be obtained by passing the one-hour written final exam. No auxiliaries will be allowed and an exam enrollment via STiNE is obligatory.
