welcome to our popular course!

This course covers crucial fundamentals you will need throughout your managerial career. It is one of the few contents that are highly relevant and which content does not outdate with time. From strategy, leadership, firm culture, team motivation, and organizational structures we cover the backbone of organizational design. Do not miss it.

We apply the content ourselves to a very well-known gaming firm in our case study.    

  • Fundamental concepts and theories on markets vs firms (e.g., TCE, bounded rationality, uncertainty)
  • Organizational theories and their application to the organization of structures and processes (classic, neoclassic, modern)
  • Drivers of organizational design (environment, technology, motivation/theories)
  • Challenges in organizational design 
    (balancing differentiation, centralization, standardization, organic structures)
  • Strategy development and implementation (concepts, tools, impact of IT/AI)
  • Coordination and motivation tasks
  • Organizational forms (e.g., team and project organization, process and matrix organization, profit center organization, virtual and network organization)
  • Leadership styles, motivation, and ethics

  • Sustainability within and of organizations
  • Teams and dynamics, stress reduction, and burnout prevention in organizations
  • Dynamics: types of change, barriers, and change management approaches
