The nature of work is changing. Since the coronavirus pandemic at the latest, (knowledge) work is often done virtually, with flexible work locations and times. Employees want to get involved, work autonomously and experience meaning in their work. Agile, self-organized working methods are on the rise. However, these new ways of working have a “dark side”, too: blurring work-life boundaries, work-family conflict, information and communication technology overload, to name just a few. In this course, we critically reflect different concepts of new ways of working. The aim of this course is to provide students with a combination of theoretical and applied knowledge on the changing nature of work. The course focuses on both the challenges and opportunities

Lernziel:
Students are able to describe the concept of new ways of working.

On the basis of practical input and scientific literature, students are able to describe opportunities and challenges of a self-selected example of new ways of working.
On the basis of practical input and scientific literature, students are able to derive practical implications for a self-selected example of new ways of working.

Vorgehen:
The course is organized in an agile way to give students a practical understanding of agile work. Therefore, the semester will be divided into three sprints (three to four weeks each). We will give a detailled overview of the agile approach at the beginning of the course.

Literatur:
Peer-reviewed scientific articles (depending on the self-selected topic)

Zusätzliche Hinweise zu Prüfungen:
After each sprint, students present their results in a podcast and write a reflection of the sprint.
