Kommentare/ Inhalte:
The seminar focusses on the role of institutions, practices, and economic theories for economic policy actions. We examine principles of macroeconomic governance, theoretical and empirical challenges, critiques of capitalist market order, as well as important actors and structures of financialized capitalism.
The course will take a contemporary perspective and focus on conflicts, topics, and challenges that economic policy-makers were confronted with since the early 2000s. We will discuss a variety of global, regional, and national economic policy institutions, which regulate currency relations, capital flows, and investments, enable macroeconomic governance and structure (re)distributional policies. For instance, the role of central banks in moderating the Euro- and Covid-19 crises and in enabling the green transition as well as the special role of asset managers will be topics of discussion.
