Kommentare/ Inhalte: There is no crime without a victim! Based on this assumption, the course will present the development of victimology from its beginnings to the present day. In particular, the question of what is actually meant by a victim will be discussed. How and why has the meaning changed over time? In addition, victimological theories will be presented and critically examined. Other key topics include issues relating to the hierarchy of victims and victim protection.
Lernziel: • Insights into sociological / victimological theories • Independent processing of scientific questions • Promotion of critical examination of controversial topics • To improve experience in the conception and production of seminar papers • Improvement in the ability to tackle presentation techniques
Vorgehen: After the introduction to the topic, individual themes are prepared and presented by the students and then discussed amongst the fellow participants. For each week one text has to be read which will provide the basis for each session and discussion.
