Weitere Informationen: Reading scientific publications requires different skills and strategies than for reading texts in other disciplines, as ideas are presented in various ways (e.g., graphs, charts, paragraphs), requiring students to synthesize a range of information. This course addresses these challenges by providing key techniques to improve participants’ literacy skills. In working with complex texts that includes, e.g., analyzing the structure and specific language use, as well as summarizing major takeaways, participants will also develop their writing skills, allowing them to disseminate information effectively. This class will involve a combination of lecture, discussion, in-class activities, as well as pair and group work.

Anmeldevoraussetzungen:

passendes Einstufungsergebnis (mind. B2 für B2-Kurse, C1 für C1-Kurse), nicht älter als drei Jahre

Nachweis durch:

Ablegen des Online-Einstufungstests (Link)

Einreichung eines Sprachzertifikats auf dem Kursniveau (s. Website für akzeptierte Zertifikate).

Anmeldungen ohne Nachweis einer passenden Einstufung/eines passenden Zertifikats werden storniert.

Haben Sie sich seit 2020 schon einmal bei uns einstufen lassen oder uns bereits ein Zertifikat vorgelegt? Dann müssen Sie Ihr Niveau nicht erneut nachweisen.

Lernziel: By the end of the course, participants should have enhanced their abilities to comprehend, analyze and engage with different scientific texts by utilizing their new-found literacy skills and strategies. Also, participants should have improved their writing skills, i.e., summarizing complex content, in the process.
Literatur: Personalized material will be provided by the instructor digitally. Also, any additional required course material will be addressed on the first day of class.
