Kommentare/ Inhalte:
Transnational Governance denotes ‘the formal and informal bundles of rules, roles and relationships that define and regulate the social practices of state and nonstate actors in international affairs’ (Slaughter et al. 1998, 371).
This course aims at providing an overview of the key actors shaping Transnational Governance and how these formulate and advocate global standards across policy domains ranging from finance, trade and security, to economic development and energy policy. Casting light on the operations of international organisations (e.g., the World Bank), supranational entities (e.g., the EU), think tanks (e.g., the OECD), non-governmental bodies, and epistemic communities, this class describes the institutional landscape framing Transnational Governance.
Operating in an interconnected world undergoing a watershed moment, prospect lawyers, policymakers and scholars require critical understanding of the mechanisms running the engine of global policymaking. This course is highly recommended to students planning to engage in post-graduate studies at the crossroads of international relations, international law, public policy and political economy.
