Kommentare/ Inhalte: The lecturer will contact the particpants via their Uni-Hamburg e-mail with the Zoom link. This lecturer is open to MA and PhD students. The permanent seminar of the Austronesian studies program at University of Hamburg intends to be a space of exchange for graduate students, junior, and confirmed researchers working on the Austronesian speaking world – namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, the Pacific islands (Micronesia, Melanesia, Polynesia), and Madagascar – and adopting a broad regional and/or temporal perspective when considering ancient and contemporary socio-cultural phenomena. The seminar will meet twice a month, online, either to host a lecture followed by a discussion, or to exchange on selected readings. MA and PhD students The seminar aims at introducing students to new research on the Austronesian speaking region and stimulating thinking trans-regionally (both at the macro and micro levels, interisland). Biodata: Elsa Clavé is assistant professor in Austronesian studies. She specialized in the social and cultural history of the Malay speaking world, in particular the Philippines, Sumatra and the Malay peninsula. Her research revolves around the relation between history and memory, as well as the production and the circulation of knowledge.

Literatur: A program will be sent to the registrees. To benefit fully from the seminar, students are expected to prepare the meetings by reading actively the materials.
