Kommentare/ Inhalte: In the current situation of climate change the role of the human contribution to this situation and options for a change towards a sustainable earthsystems are intensely debated. The seminar critically examines the notion of the anthropocene, which puts an emphasis on the responsibility of human life styles for the environmental and ecological crises of the earthsystem. It moves on to the introduction and discussion of concepts for acknowledging a more than human world by decentring the human in anthropological research, which is a difficult and maybe even paradoxical endeavour for a researcher. Still, emerging concepts such as, multi-species ethnography, eco-stewardship, and post-humanism or environmental justice seek to overcome the predominant anthropocentric world views and find ways to situate humans in the living system of specific habitats as one species among others and also problematize power relations in global resource consumption.
