Kommentare/ Inhalte: Research methodology and methods are central to the research process and inquiry. While every discipline has its own set of theories and associated methodologies from which it draws, the turn to interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches in research has led to a collaboration between various fields of inquiry. Geography is characterised by methodological diversity and an abundance of methods and approaches which link in complex ways with the underlying (Flowerdew and Martin, 1997) theoretical debates. Research methods and methodologies are about how we come to know the things we know. They are rooted in the histories of their disciplines and their related theories. In this course, we will discuss the epistemological, methodological and ethical questions related to geographical research. Through reading, presentations, individual and small group assignments, students will learn to practically apply research methods and to use them in developing their own research projects.
