Kommentare/ Inhalte: As omnivores, people could eat anything that is not harmful to health. However, most people consciously or unconsciously exclude certain products. The aim of the seminar is to discuss and analyze the different habits, preferences, taboos and restrictions regarding food on the basis of sociological explanations. Special emphasis is placed on religious and cultural influences.
Lernziel: • Insights into sociological theories • Independent processing of scientific questions • Promotion of critical examination of controversial topics • To improve experience in the conception and production of seminar papers • Improvement in the ability to tackle presentation techniques
Vorgehen: After the introduction to the topic, individual themes are prepared and presented by the students and then discussed amongst the fellow participants. For each week one text has to be read which will provide the basis for each session and discussion.
