Kommentare/ Inhalte: This seminar is conceptualized to deal with the modern part of the seminar “Hauptwerke” (the important literary works) and consists of two parts, namely – the medieval Indian literature (e.g. Kabirdas, Ravidas, Surdas, Mirabai) and the modern Indian literature. Approximately seven seminars will be on North Indian literary tradition and six seminars on South Indian literary tradition encompassing different Indian languages. Since the seminar will be held in English, no prior linguistic knowledge of Indian languages is required to attend this seminar. The relevant literature will be uploaded on STiNE well in advance. The participants will have the choice of presenting a talk/presentation in the class or writing a short essay (4-5 pages) as an accomplishment.
