Goals and Contents of the module:
This graduate course brings together the latest research ideas and topics in political economy. The focus will be primarily on theoretical work. The course will consist of three parts.
1. Political Behavior:
Voters, Candidates, Legislatures, Interest Groups, Political Parties, Media.
2. Political Distortions:
Inefficient redistribution, Career concerns, Dynamic Problems.
3. Endogenous Political Institutions.
Literature:
Lecture notes are sufficient and there is no textbook required. The following books are useful if you want to specialize in the area.

Expected Competences acquired after completion of the module:
Students leave the course understanding how microeconomic theory is applied to critically evaluate interactions between economic and political agents. The course should prove useful for any graduate student interested in analyzing policy issues. It will be particularly valuable background for those students intending to specialize in political economy, institutional economics, and media economics.
Requirements for the assignment of ECTS-Credits and Grades:
Presentation of a research paper (50% of the final grade) plus report on the presented paper (50% of the final grade).
