Kommentare/ Inhalte: Seminar 57-643 on linguistic semantics will focus on the study of metaphors and metonymies. It will constitute of a very brief theoretical with more practical application on African languages, especially data from Ngemba (Grassfield Bantu).
Lernziel: The principal goal is not only to identify the metaphors and metonymies in texts and discourse and carry out a cognitive analysis on their meaning, but also to do a (cross)cultural analysis of the identified expressions to know the cultural underpinnings that motivate the linguistic realizations or use of these specific tropes. This seminar is usually taught by Prof. Dr. Roland Kießling, is very interesting, as it sheds light on how different people and cultures conceptualize their world.
