Kommentare/ Inhalte: This research colloquium focuses on the practical side of research by taking a closer look at the different phases of research. Researchers define their research questions, think about methods and plan how to conduct the research. These three phases are the main focus of the course. We will discuss the master thesis projects by the participants, in particular referring to different approaches to research subjects, different methods available and their advantages and disadvantages, practical problems, and how they can be solved. This colloquium aims at helping students plan their own master’s theses.
Lernziel: - Good understanding of the basics phases of a research project - Ability to phrase research questions, to find appropriate methods and to plan a project accordingly
Vorgehen: Besides regular attendance and written assignments, this course is based on group discussions and on short lectures. Due to the pandemic only the first session will be in-person, all following session will be held on the online conference software Zoom. There might be changes to react on current developments. Zusätzliche Hinweise zu Prüfungen: Short written assignments have to be delivered during the term. They are all connected to the master thesis and should be delivered in form of a learning blog. More information will be given in class. All assignments have to be handed in via the learning platform OpenOlat.
