Kommentare/ Inhalte: The seminar deals with some of the main regional and global health issues in the world today and in the recent past. It will introduce students to the basics of epidemiology and examine the regional and global governance arrangements that have been created to deal with disease outbreaks.
Lernziel: The goal of the course is to provide students with a solid understanding of the interplay of health managment, disease control, and politics.
Vorgehen: The course will use problem-based learning as the principal teaching technique. Each week students will be handed a "case" which they will explore in small groups. They will articulate research questions that come out of the text, develop strategies to answer these, and allocate research tasks to group members accordingly; answers/insights will then be presented at the following session. For videoconferences, Zoom will be used; all written and asynchronous exchanges will be done via MS Teams.
